INTAN JAYA - In a heartwarming gesture of compassion, the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) Task Forces of Raider Infantry Battalion 509/Balawara Yudha Kostrad, under HABEMA Command, brought smiles to the residents of Mamba Village, Sugapa District, by distributing free packages of basic necessities. This charitable act took place on Tuesday, October 22, 2024, during a routine patrol in the remote areas of Intan Jaya Regency, Papua Tengah Province.
Lieutenant Colonel Dian Dessiawan Setyadi, Commander of the 509 Task Forces, emphasized that addressing the basic needs of the local communities is a core part of the unit’s mission. Since their deployment, the Task Forces have been dedicated to not only ensuring security but also engaging in activities that uplift the surrounding villages. The distribution of basic necessities is one such initiative, aimed at showing love and care to the people of Papua.
During the event, a Mamba Village resident, Mama Maria Turnib, visited the Kotis Mamba Post for social interaction. The Soldiers greeted her warmly, offering a free package of essential goods, which she received with a grateful heart. “Thank you, Commander 509. God bless you, ” Mama Maria expressed, her face lighting up with joy.
Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, Commanding General of HABEMA, commended the efforts of the 509 Task Forces, saying, “Their initiative to distribute free basic necessities is a reflection of TNI’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people and the acceleration of development in Papua.” He stressed that these small acts of kindness are vital in building trust and fostering hope for a brighter future in the region.
This ongoing initiative by the TNI demonstrates that their mission in Papua is not only about securing the region but also about being a source of support and care for the community. The efforts of the 509 Task Forces are contributing to a stronger and more united Papua.
